The Managing Director of the Edo State Waste Management Board, Mr. Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi, has called on market traders to maintain a clean environment by sweeping the areas in front of their shops to the walkways for efficient waste collection.

Mr. Enehita-Inegbenehi made this appeal during his inspection of markets in the Benin City metropolis—Uwelu Spare Parts Market, Ekea market, Egba Market, Spare Parts Market, Egor Market and many other Markets.

During the visit, the Managing Director assured traders that the board would provide free waste evacuation services as part of its commitment to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment in Edo State.

“We understand the volume of waste generated in markets like these, and we are here to support you. Sweep the waste from your shops to the walkways, and we will handle the evacuation without any cost to you,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Waste Management Board and traders to ensure the effectiveness of waste collection and disposal efforts. He further urged market leaders to sensitize their members on the need to comply with proper waste management practices.

Traders at the various markets expressed gratitude for the initiative, describing it as a welcome relief that would ease the challenges of waste disposal in their business areas.

This inspection is part of the board’s ongoing efforts to tackle waste management issues across Edo State and ensure a cleaner environment for residents.
