The Edo State Waste Management Board is dedicated to ensuring a clean, healthy, and economically vibrant environment. Our origins date back to the Edo State Environmental and Waste Management Board, established in 2000. Today, we operate under the guidance of the Edo State Sanitation and Pollution Management Law No. 5 of 2010.

Our Vision

To make Edo State a model of environmental excellence, where cleanliness, healthy living, and sustainable practices are the hallmarks of our communities and a key component of our economic vitality.

Our Objectives

Our primary objective is to implement effective waste collection, disposal, and management policies. These policies directly support a clean and sustainable environment that enhances the well-being of Edo State citizens and promotes economic growth.

Our Mission

The Edo State Waste Management Board is committed to creating a sustainable waste management system through responsible resource utilization, waste reduction, reuse, and recycling initiatives.

We will achieve this by:

Our Key Functions

Projects Embarked on by the Office of the Head of ServiceProject Clean-Up Edo (PCUE): Driving Environmental Excellence
PCUE is a multifaceted initiative designed to transform waste management across Edo State. Key components include:

Licensing of Private Recycling Facilities

PCUE streamlines the process of establishing private recycling facilities. This encourages investment in the sector, expanding waste processing capabilities and promoting a circular economy where resources are recovered and reused.

State-of-the-Art Waste Treatment Facility

This flagship project involves developing a centralized, modern waste treatment facility in Benin City. It will employ advanced technologies to maximize resource recovery, minimize waste sent to landfills, and safeguard the environment.

Mini Litter Bins for Motorists

PCUE promotes individual responsibility by providing mini litter bins to motorists. This simple initiative helps prevent litter on our roads and encourages a culture of environmental stewardship.

Expanded Waste Management Coverage

PCUE extends waste collection and management services to underserved areas of the state. This ensures equitable access to a clean environment and improves public health outcomes for all Edo State residents.

Regional Waste Management Offices

Establishing regional offices strengthens PCUE’s coordination and reach. These offices will provide localized waste management solutions, tailored to the specific needs and resources of different regions.
